When you have read the attachment, you can make your views known by emailing Nick Thompson (nicholasthompsoncbe@gmail.com) and he will feed them into the consultation process on behalf of the village. You can also, of course, make your views known directly with RDC.

Something Fishy’s Going On:

As Steve, the fish man, is not delivering for the foreseeable future, Pete is very happy to place a group order with Hodgson’s - his normal fish supplier at the pub. They will deliver if there is at least £50 worth of order to be dropped-off at the Blacksmith’s Arms. You would just need to collect from there. Please contact Pete (01751 - 417247) if you want to place an order. For Hodgson’s price list, click here.

Fresh Fruit & Veg Delivery Service:

Think Fresh, the Helmsley Greengrocer, will make deliveries to Lastingham on Thursdays from now on. Orders need to have been placed by Wednesday. To request a delivery, contact Colin Hope:

Email: thinkfresh1@gmail.com

Mobile: 07764 304018

Prescription Delivery Service:

Local volunteers will be making a weekly collection from Towlers in Kirkbymoorside. This will take place on a Friday. Please contact Towlers to arrange for your prescription to be part of this delivery service, and please contact Heather White so that you can be added to the list of items to be collected.

Temporary Village Store:

Pete & Hils are making a range of basic essentials available on a not for profit basis at the Blacksmith’s Arms. In addition, they are happy to place orders with the butchers and bakers (as yet, no candlestick makers) on behalf of customers. They will keep a tally which people can then settle at the end of the week. It is also possible to arrange delivery to folks from Lastingham & Spaunton who are self-isolating.

They have a stock of items in the pub but, for bakery products and meat, please click the relevant lists below:

Lastingham & Spaunton Community Response:

If you are self-isolating for whatever reason, please be assured that support will be offered by residents of the villages at this difficult time. Below is a list of services that can be offered; however, this is not comprehensive and can be adapted according to need:

Buying groceries - Collecting Prescriptions - Dog Walking Posting Mail/parcels - Delivering Meals - Providing a Form of Social Contact

For residents concerned about getting cash in order to pay for groceries etc. on-line transfers can be made or cheques written to Heather White, who will maintain a cash reserve.

Email would be a preferable way to keep in touch but if anyone would rather receive paper copies, please contact Heather

Glaves the Butcher - deliveries available via The Blacksmith’s Arms:

If anyone would like to have meat delivered to the village, Pete & Hils have kindly said that they will co-ordinate orders which can be delivered to the pub. Customers can collect their orders or, for those who cannot, for whatever reason, get ‘out & about’, Pete has offered to deliver to your home. Please contact the pub on 01751 - 417247, if you wish to discuss an order.

To view Glaves the Butcher’s price list, please click here.

Takeaway meals from the Blacksmith’s Arms - Service Suspended:

Due to uncertainty over the government’s wage support payments, Pete & Hils have - very reluctantly - been forced to suspend the service providing takeaway meals. It seems possible that providing this service to the village might mean that they are deemed to be still operating a business (albeit very part-time and on a tiny scale) which would render them, and more importantly their staff, ineligible for the support payments. If they receive clarity over the position, this decision may be revised but, for now, takeaway meals are no longer available. Please keep checking back with this site for further updates.

Parish Meeting AGM Postponement:

Following current advice from YLCA, the AGM has been postponed indefinitely during the current situation. Accounts and other ‘formalities’ will be posted on this site for residents to view and, as far as is practicable, electronic means will be used to disseminate information. When the situation changes, this decision may be reconsidered in light of new advice in etc evolving situation.

Corona virus / Covid-19 and Village Events

In order to comply with current health advice on social distancing, all events in the Village Hall have been suspended for the foreseeable future.

This includes regular events, such as Keep Fit Class, and specific, one-off events, such as the Village Meeting AGM, the Call My Bluff evening etc.

When the situation changes, there will be further updates on this site, and also on the Village Hall Facebook Page.
